Happiness is...

Happiness is a haircut. Well at least Aly thinks so. She wanted her hair cut last night, so I gave her a nice trim and thinned it out some - you could hardly tell I did anything. Her hair is so think that if you brush it starting from the left side to the right side, by the time you're finished, it's snarly on the left side again. It's very frustrating and she's not brushing her hair much because it's such a tedious job. She had wanted it shorter, but I really love it long. However, after seeing how much easier (though still not REALLY easy) it was after I was finished, I went ahead and cut a couple inches off and thinned it some more. The outcome? She looks great! She's thrilled, and I think it's going to be a lot easier for her to manage. She can run her fingers through it - couldn't before.

Later, after bedtime, I went to check on her. She hadn't been able to fall asleep in the 30 minutes and was laughing. I asked her what was wrong and she said, "oh, nothing," and continued to laugh. I asked her why she was laughing and she said that she was happy her hair was pretty. If you ask me, I think she was THAT excited about it! Then this morning, I walked by the bathroom where she was getting ready and she saw me and said that she had been telling herself how pretty she was. Dang I love this kid! She's so hilarious. I don't know if she means to be, but she makes life fun.

On an even funner note, she has a christmas party at school today and she is taking a present to that and to her friend. She's so excited, she can hardly stand it. I hope her day is a wonderful as she has invisioned it!

Oh, and I'll post pictures soon!

I was just going to say "post a picture" and you said you'd post pictures later. You read my mind. I can't wait to see it! Tell Aly I love her! She's so sweet!
