Insomnia

Hallie is running around and around; through the living room, into the kitchen, around the hall, and back into the living room. She wants to run a hundred miles so she can run to Washington DC, "by barefoot." She's been running for about 25 minutes now. She's already stubbed her toe, pulled the toe muscle she stubbed, and done 35 situps. As she runs by, she flexes her biceps and asks me if she's getting stronger.

You'd think it's late and she should already be asleep; but actually, this IS my ploy to get her to go to bed before midnight - I have an hour. This kid was totally hyper, I'm sure the Lick M Aid we got during our trip to the convenience store didn't help any, and neither did the cupcake Niki gave her when she got home from work. Pure sugar - she was talking a mile a minute. So, I told her and Cole to run. Cole petered out first because he takes Melatonin before bed and it kicked in. Medicines don't work for Hallie, she gets that from her daddy. She's also very excited to go to grandma's for a week tomorrow with her cousins, Kennedy and Garrett. So all that built up, is a recipe for disaster.

No mommy, really, I'm not tired!

She finally stopped running and sat next to me on the couch with a book from the Bailey School Kids series called, "The Bride of Frankenstein Doesn't Bake Cookies." She then announced she's going to read for 4 hours. Oh boy, I think she's about out, don't you?
